As the Summer has ended and the signs of Fall are present with the changing of the leaves, I cannot help but reflect on all the changes that have occurred this year. These challenges have provided each of us with an opportunity to be courageous, roll up our sleeves, and work together in new and different ways.
Each of us has had to learn how to adapt quickly in an ever-changing environment as the business leaders we support are looking to us for direction and guidance. As a professional organization, SHRM-LI has also learned the importance of change during these unique and interesting times, which has allowed us to reflect on who we are, and how we can best serve our members and the HR community on Long Island. With that being said, the Chapter has updated our Purpose, Mission, Vision and created Core Values to help us better serve our members, business partners and the organizations that each of us support as HR Professionals.
Our purpose is to elevate the HR profession.
Our mission is to advance and serve the human resources profession by inspiring, influencing, developing, and driving meaningful leadership and HR expertise for our members and the community
To be Long Island’s premier human resource organization
OUR CORE VALUES
Our core values are the standards that drive our behavior and decision making in all our endeavors. As an organization compiled of HR professionals we are committed to:
Given everything that is going on in HR and the workplace, the need for constructive engagement and exchange is more important than ever. This new approach to our Chapter, will allow the SHRM-LI Leadership Team and our Strategic Business Partners to lead and promote the HR profession as we focus not only on the professional development of our members, but also offering programming that allows us to connect with one another on a more personal level. This connection will allow for each of us to share our life lessons so that we can share our own unique and individual experiences on being successful.
As difficult as these times may be, they are also the most interesting, and continue to create opportunities for inspiring creative solutions to support a world that promotes better workplaces for a better world. I am honored to serve as your President.
