Dear SHRM-LI Friends and Colleagues:

As the festivities of the holiday season are behind us and we settle into the reality of a long hard winter (well maybe not this year), it’s a good time to focus on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for SHRM-LI.

As you know, 2011 was a dynamic year for our Chapter.  As I assumed the Presidency in January, I was filled with much enthusiasm and just a bit of trepidation.  How could I ever continue the legacy of those past Presidents that came before me??  The encouragement and support I received and continue to receive from the membership has been nothing less than inspiring.

As a Chapter we were able to accomplish many things in 2011 and I would once again like to take this opportunity to thank the Executive Board, our Chapter Administrator and all our volunteer leaders for their unwavering support of SHRM-LI.  

I am grateful to all our Business Partners and Chapter Sponsors for without their commitment we could not afford to offer our membership the kinds of programs and events we’ve all become accustomed to.

My goal for our Chapter in 2012 and beyond is to enhance the HR profession, continue to be the Voice of HR on Long Island and offer our members a full variety of social and professional learning opportunities.  I am pleased to say that 2012 is shaping up to be another stellar year for our Chapter.

Along with our regular Dinner Meetings, plans are in full swing for our 21st Annual Conference & Exhibitors’ Showcase entitled “Advocate For The Future“, on Friday April 27, 2012 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.  This daylong Conference is the premier HR event on Long Island.  Along with outstanding Workshops, this Conference offers HR professionals the opportunity to network with hundreds of fellow HR professionals and vendors.  Click on these links to learn more about becoming a Conference Sponsor/Exhibitor or Attendee.

Our annual Social event is scheduled for June 20th at the Carlyle at the Palace in Plainview.  This is another opportunity to network with your fellow HR professionals and have a great time!

To those of you who are regular attendees at our events, thank you for your continued support.  We know everyone is super busy and it is gratifying to have you share your limited time with us.  To those of you who are new to SHRM and/or have not yet participated or taken an active role in our Chapter, I encourage you to get involved.  I promise you, you won’t be disappointed!
