President Christel Colón, SHRM-SCP, SPHR


Christel Colón, SHRM-SCP, SPHR is a career Human Resources professional.  She has specialized in compensation management and worked as a generalist in law, publishing, advertising, healthcare, higher education, research and development, government, incubator start-ups and consulting for domestic and global organizations with populations from 50 to 15,000 employees.
 
She earned a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communications from Pace University in NYC and a Masters in Labor Management Studies from Stony Brook University on Long Island.  She has a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute and the new SHRM-SCP certification from the Society of Human Resource Management as well as a Labor Management certification from New York State.
 
An avid supporter of professional development, Christel is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM National), WorldatWork, and American Society for Training & Development.  She is the President of SHRM-Long Island, where her passion to advance the Human Resources profession has afforded her the opportunity to hold almost every chapter leadership position and establish the SHRM-LI Council on Diversity & Inclusion.
 
A Veterans' champion, Christel served as the Veterans Affairs Coordinator at Stony Brook University for six years and has volunteered extensively to efforts that help Veterans transition to the civilian workforce as well as helping other HR professionals and their organizations appreciate the value of hiring Veterans.
 
Christel has developed and presented numerous programs on a vast array of HR topics at conferences and varied venues.   At Stony Brook University, she was an Adjunct Faculty and taught graduate level HR Management courses and facilitated the establishment of Stony Brook University as a certified instructional site for the PHR/SPHR Certification Prep course.  She is an Advisory Board member of St. John's University's Management Department in the area of Human Resources.
 
Christel has held senior compensation management positions at St. Vincent's Hospital and The Mount Sinai Medical Center and had a very progressive HR career at Stony Brook University.  She was recently the Director of Human Resources at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY) and is presently at Brookhaven National Laboratory in the newly created position of Human Resources Business Partner for scientific and operations organizations.
 
Christel was born and raised in New York City and presently resides in Bethpage, Long Island.

President-Elect:  Jennifer Carey, SHRM-SCP, SPHR


Jennifer Carey, Regional Director of Human Resources at Multi Packaging Solutions, is an accomplished HR professional with over 12 years of experience in the public and private sectors.  Jennifer is responsible for executing Multi Packaging Solutions human resource management strategies for their facilities located in New York, California and Michigan. She  has shown herself to be knowledgeable in the following human resource functions:  talent management, employee relations, labor relations, training and development, worker's  compensation, and benefits. 

Jennifer also serves as an Adjunct Professor for the Division of Business for Molloy College located in Rockville Centre, NY since 2015.

Jennifer holds a BS in Management from Briarcliffe College and a Master's in Human Resource Management and Labor Relations from New York Institute of Technology's School of Management. She is certified through SHRM National as an SHRM-SCP as well as receiving her Senior Resource Professional (SPHR) designation from HRCI.  

Treasurer:  Deborah Davis, SHRM-CP, PHR

Deb Davis. SHRM-CP, PHR has been an active member of SHRM-LI since 1996 and a constant presence at SHRM's monthly meetings and annual conferences. In 2011, she became a member of the Workforce Readiness committee and a contributor to SHRM-LI receiving the Pinnacle award. In this role, Deb is a trainer for the VHR Program and provides the VHR program to the students at Roslyn High School.

In her 25+ year Human Resources career, Deb has earned her BS with honors in Organizational Management from St. Joseph's College and has held various HR related positions such as Sr. HR Generalist, Sr. HR Analyst and HR Manager. She is proactive in implementing efficient and cost effective strategies where significant savings have been recognized.

Deb's expertise includes HRIS management and reporting, benefit design and administration, employee relations, coaching and counseling, performance management, recruitment, onboarding, training, and event planning including community involvement and wellness initiatives. She has also implemented diversity programs to include those with disabilities and the hearing impaired. 

Deb believes that HR is a valuable part of any successful company and is fortunate to be involved in such an influential organization like SHRM-LI. Deb is honored to be in a position to help influence and promote the importance of the HR field.

Secretary:  Gregory Colletti


Gregory Colletti has been working in the HR industry since 2004. Early on in his HR career he started by assisting with hiring, sourcing and on boarding within his companies retail stores nationally.  As he grew and gained working knowledge of the Human Resources industry he moved to a new role within a direct marketing firm as a Human Resources Generalist and corporate recruiter.  

During this time 
Gregory became active with SHRM-LI as a volunteer for the Annual Conference where he offered assistance and new ideas within various areas of the conference. Gregory has also worked alongside Kim Cottage assisting with the SHRM Foundation holiday fundraising where he continues to offer his assistance in fundraising for the foundation.  He later progressed to a new role in New York City as a Recruiting Manger for an international import/export company while still remaining dedicated to the SHRM-LI organization.
 
In 2015 Gregory received the recruiter of the year award from Best Places to Work and Recruiting Trends in Orlando Florida where he was recognized for being professional, effective, fearless and innovated in the recruiting world. At his current role at Allied Physicians Group Gregory is focused on supporting 38 locations with talent acquisition for their growing network of outpatient pediatric offices.  Since joining Allied Physicians Group in January 2016 Gregory has worked with the HR team and executive leadership to lay the framework to help build and streamline the recruiting process within the organization while supporting various New York locations. 

Gregory has recently accepted the role as the 2017 SHRM-LI Annual Conference Co-Chair. He is actively studying for his SHRM-CP exam and is exploring options to further his education. 

Annette Perry, PHR, SHRM-CP

Past President SHRM-LI

Annette Perry, PHR, SHRM-CP a respected HR professional, is currently the Immediate Past President for SHRM-LI. She holds a degree in Business Management from Adelphi University. Annette is currently the Director of Human Resources for Empire Merchants. LLC.

In 1996, Annette received the recognition of her peers when she achieved her professional certification as a PHR (Professional in Human Resource Management) by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). In addition to being President of SHRM-LI, Annette is also former Vice President for the Long Island Chapter of the Risk Insurance Management Society (RIMS-LI). She has served on various committees and in a number of capacities for SHRM-LI. At the April 2008 SHRM-LI Annual Conference, Annette was recognized for her dedication to the HR Profession by receiving the prestigious Joseph Duffy Award.

Robin McConnell

Past President SHRM-LI

Robin McConnell has been an integral part of SHRM-LI for over 15 years and is a former 2-time past president. Within her many roles in Human Resources, Robin keeps abreast of current trends in the marketplace and employment field. Her commitment to SHRM-LI also extends to the state level as she is the current NYS State Director. Two years ago, Robin was honored at the SHRM-LI Annual Conference when she received the Joseph Duffy Award.

Robert F. Potorski

Past President SHRM-LI

Rob Potorski is currently an Outplacement Consultant with DBM - Long Island office . He possesses over thirty years of Human Resources managerial experience including twenty at the director or VP level in both corporate and plant environments, with a specialization in staffing. He earned an Industrial Relations undergraduate degree from Rider University and an M.B.A. from Dowling College. Rob is currently Vice-Chair, Board of Directors of the Urban League of Long Island, Board Member of SHRM-LI and current Legislative Chair. He also was past President of the Long Island Chapter, and Co-Chair of the Annual Conference. Rob is a recipient of the Joseph C. Duffy Award for professional HR excellence.

Robert Rothschild

Past President SHRM-LI

Robert Rothschild is Director of Human Resources for RSE Ventures and a Past President ot SHRM-LI.  Rob's experience includes two Fortune 500 Corporations - Canon U.S.A. as Director of Compensation, Benefits and Human Resources Information Systems, and Northrop Grumman, where he held several key human resources and  finance positions.  His HR experience also  includes  American Express, Symbol Technologies (Motorola), Fidelis Care and NYU Medical Center.  He has been an adjunct graduate school professor at New York Institute of Technology where he taught human resources courses for more than fifteen years.  In 2009  he was awarded SHRM Long Island’s Joseph C. Duffy Award for Professional Excellence.  He also is a long standing member of the Human Resources Advisory Committee for ACLD (Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities) and the New York Institute of Technology Center for HR Studies Advisory Council.  Rob Received his B.A. in economics and psychology from Herbert H. Lehman College and his MBA in management from Bernard Baruch College of the City University of New York.
